Frequently Asked Questions
This page will provide general answers to common questions asked of our board, administration, and staff..
Q: Why do we need an Alternative School?
A: Each child has their own unique ability to learn. Most children have their basic needs provided by
parents and extended family, but there are some who are considered at-risk students. These students could be emanicpated,
homeless, single parents, or have any type of learning difficulty. It is for these students that prompted Midvale to apply
for an Alternative School. The Board of Trustees and Administration has a firm commitment to provide educational programs
for every student. The Midvale Alternative School provides the type of learning environment that meets the needs of
our at-risk students.
Q: Why doesn't Midvale consolidate with any neighboring school districts?
A: The Midvale school serves as a meeting place for the community and provides a sense of identity. At the present time,
Midvale offers programs that are comparable to those offered elsewhere and also offers some courses and programs that
are unique to our school district. Enrollment continues to slowly increase which shows the effectiveness of the
educational programs being offered. Consolidation would quite possible result in the loss of all school programs in
Midvale and could result in an economic loss for the area as well. We, at Midvale School District, are proud of our
school, our students, our parents, and our community and we are committed to providing a quality education for all.
Q: Why do we need additional classrooms
and a new gymnasium?
A: Graduation requirements, as defined by the State Board of
Education, are more extensive than in the past and new requirements
are added every few years.
